There is a wealth of liturgies and events on offer at the Rosary Shrine this Lent; chances to feed the intellect, grow in devotion, and deepen your faith. We list them here in chronological order:
14 February: Ash Wednesday, Masses usual times (7:30am, 10am, 6pm) with imposition of ashes at all Masses.
Wednesdays & Fridays in Lent: Stations of the Cross at 5:15pm.
17 February: Lent Recollection led by Deacon Richard Steenvoorde OP, a Dominican of the Dutch Province, the first to be ordained in 20 years. The recollection begins with Mass at 10am, followed by Adoration, a short talk and Rosary, ending before noon.
20 February: Lent Talk I – ‘The Son’s Course: What is God like and how do we know?’ by Fr Nicholas Crowe OP at 7:30pm in the Parish Hall (Blackfriars Hall).
24 February: Concert in the Church lit by candlelight at 7:30pm. Biber’s ‘Rosary Sonatas – The Sorrowful Mysteries‘, performed by Nicolette Moonen on violin and Pawel Siwczak on chamber organ. Tickets available from the Repository, or online, or on the door.
27 February: Lent Talk II – ‘The Pain of Christ and the Sorrow of God’ by Br Jordan Scott OP at 7:30pm in the Parish Hall (Blackfriars Hall).
6 March: Thomistic Institute Launch – Fr Thomas Joseph White OP from Washington DC will give a talk entitled ‘The Light of Christ: the Promise of Catholicism in the 21st Century’. This talk will be based on bestselling book ‘The Light of Christ: An Introduction to Catholicism’, which aims to bring the Catholic faith into dialogue with the questions of contemporary thinkers. Does Catholicism still matter today? Come and listen, and ask a question; join the conversation! The talk will be at 7:30pm in the Parish Hall (Blackfriars Hall). The talk will be recorded by EWTN. Tickets are not needed, all are welcome.
13 March: Lent Talk III – ‘Friendship as a Way of Prayer: Gerald Vann’s ‘To Heaven With Diana” by Fr Dominic White OP at 7:30pm in the Parish Hall (Blackfriars Hall).
16 March: Rosary Shrine Lecture – Dr Scott Hahn from the University of Steubenville, Ohio will deliver the inaugural Rosary Shrine Lecture in the Church at 7:30pm. The talk will be recorded by EWTN, and tickets (£5 each) are available online. Please note that a ticket is necessary for admission to this talk.
