Celebrating St Thomas Aquinas

The feast of St Thomas Aquinas, the “Angelic Doctor”, is on 28th January, which falls on a Sunday this year. As such, we shall be celebrating St Thomas on the preceding Saturday here in the Rosary Shrine.

There will be a votive Mass of St Thomas at 10am on Saturday 27th January, followed by Adoration and the Rosary; St Thomas is also called the “Eucharistic Doctor” because of the depth of his teaching on the mystery of the Eucharist. During the time of Adoration, there will be a short feverino preached by Fr Lawrence Lew, OP.

At around 11:15am the morning will conclude with an Enrollment Ceremony for the Angelic Warfare Confraternity (AWC). This is one of the Confraternities under the care of the Dominican Order. A confraternity is a fellowship of Catholics united for a common cause, and the AWC is under the patronage of Our Lady and St Thomas Aquinas. The aim of the AWC is to pray for the gift of chastity and holy purity. It is on account of St Thomas’s chastity, which he received as a gift from God, that he is called the “Angelic Doctor”.

All existing members of the AWC are invited to the Rosary Shrine for these celebrations, and if you wish to be enrolled in the AWC, please do come. For more information contact: awc@english.op.org
