Lectio Divina (Wed Prayer Group)

This Lent, why not discover the blessings of God’s Word? The Lord has something powerful and beautiful for you, and the Word of God is creative and has the power to heal and soothe our souls; to open up new avenues and possibilities; and to shine a light in the darkness.

Every Wednesday, beginning this Ash Wednesday at 6:45pm (after the 6pm Mass) until about 7:45pm, a Dominican friar will lead the group in adoration and praise, followed by a powerful method of ‘lectio divina’ popularised by the Franciscan Friars of the Holy Spirit in Phoenix, Arizona. We will engage in a meditative reading of Scripture (usually the Mass readings for the following Sunday). Then, like our mother Mary, we shall pray with the living Word of God, pondering it in our hearts, and inviting the Holy Spirit to speak to us. We will also listen to one another and open our hearts to them, and then we shall open our hearts to God’s Spirit, and allow him to speak His words of blessing and power to our neighbour, through us.

“Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for edifying, as fits the occasion, that it may impart grace to those who hear.” (Ephesians 4:29)
