We are delighted to welcome the Master of the Dominican Order, Fr Gerard F. P. Timoner III, OP to St Dominic’s on 21-22 May. The Master is the 87th Successor of St Dominic as Master, and the first Asian to hold this office in the Order’s 807-year history. Fr Gerard is coming to England to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the arrival of the Dominican friars in England, and he will join us in London for some special events to mark the close of this year of 800th anniversary celebrations.
On Saturday 21 May at 7:30pm, there will be a concert performed by the award-winning choir Cappella Nova, Scotland’s finest choir, and they will be performing choral pieces written by Sir James MacMillan CBE, a great friend of the Dominican Order and regarded as the greatest living Catholic composer. Sir James himself will be in attendance at this concert, and after the concert he will be interviewed about his music and connections to the Order by Fr Lawrence Lew OP. Tickets for the concert (£15) or concert + wine reception and interview (£25) are available online, or on the door on the night. To buy a ticket visit this page.
On Sunday 22 May at 12 noon, the Master will celebrate the Solemn Mass, and he will be joined by members of the Dominican Family, including our novices from Cambridge. After the Mass, there will be a blessing of the restored Rosary Altar, a blessing of the new Radio Maria studio, and a reception in the parish Hall to which all are welcome.
