40 Hours Devotion

40 Hours Devotion

Thank you to all who took part in the 40 Hours Devotion which was great success. Thank you to those who kept watch before the Blessed Sacrament and to those who sponsored sanctuary candles; we had about 100 which filled the High Altar.

November events at St Dominic’s – The Rosary Shrine

November events at St Dominic’s – The Rosary Shrine

There are a number of events happening at St Dominic’s – The Rosary Shrine in the month of November, the month of the Holy Souls. We hope you can join us for some or all of it!

It is a long and venerable tradition to offer Masses for the faithful departed in this month of November. Masses can be booked online (names will be added to the Book of the Dead for November) and all evening Masses in November will be offered for the deceased. Also it is possible to sponsor a sanctuary candle that will burn through the 40 Hours devotion (extended period of Adoration across a few days) when we will gather to pray for the faithful departed.

Masses and candles can be booked and sponsored here.

New altar rail kneeler cushions

New altar rail kneeler cushions

Holy Communion at St Dominic’s is distributed along the altar rails where many people like to kneel. We recently commissioned cushions to help give added comfort for those choosing to kneel to receive Holy Communion.

If you are able and willing to contribute to the cost of having these cushions made, please contact Fr Joseph, the parish priest, at joseph.bailham@english.op.org. All donations are always greatly appreciated.

Parish Passports and First Holy Communion

Parish Passports and First Holy Communion

Parish Passports are available to all Primary School children to help them grow in faith. There is an activity each week to be done in church after Sunday Mass, involving prayer and discovering different parts of the church building, and those who look after it and the parish community. Only one activity can be done each week. When an activity has been completed, bring the passport to a priest who will stamp and sign the passport in the presence of your child.

Use of Parish Passports are essential to being admitted to the First Holy Communion programme each year and evidence of consistent use is expected.

To collect your Parish Passport, see a priest after Sunday Masses.
